I am delighted to begin my 23rd year in the Rockdale Independent School District. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to nurture and support a dynamic learning community that works collaboratively to strengthen the academic and social achievement of students and the relationship between home, school, and community.

Before coming to Rockdale Intermediate School, I had the opportunity to spend sixteen years as an elementary school teacher, a technology teacher and the Director of Instructional Technology. I have spent my entire career working with the students of Rockdale ISD.

I obtained my Masters degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University. My undergraduate work was at Sam Houston State University. Go Bearkats!

My husband and I are both Rockdale High School graduates. We are the proud parents of two Rockdale High School graduates, Christa (class of 2011) and Josh (class of 2014).

Greeting from Rockdale Intermediate School!

3 weeks in and our students and teachers have settled in nicely. I visited every classroom last week and our students were hard at work. I noticed that many students are very tired after lunch. Please help our students by ensure they get a good night's rest each night. This will allow them to be able to focus and not miss out on anything during the day.

War horses, jousting, knights...what do they have to do with Rockdale Intermediate school?

We would like to invite parents to find out at our EarlyAct FirstKnight Tournament of Champions of Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 1:30 pm. Please bring your lawn chair as the program will be held on our playground.

EarlyAct FirstKnight is a character education program sponsored by Rockdale Rotary Club, EAFK motivates and teaches students to become civil, service-oriented people during their most formative years.

This is the second year that Rockdale Intermediate School has participated in the FirstKnight program. The goal of the event is to inspire students to commit to the EAFK program throughout the school year where they will learn and apply concepts like respect, personal responsibility, honesty, compassion, fairness, tolerance and service to others. Contact our counselor, Keely Reinser, at 512.430.6200 for more information.

Gold Out Pep Rally : RIS students will attend the Gold Out Pep Rally at Rockdale High School on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 9:00 am. Students must be on time to school as students can not be dropped off at RHS by parents if they are late. Also, if you need your student before 11:00 am you will need to let us know before the end of the day of Thursday, September, 14, 2017 so that we can make arrangements for your student not to attend the pep rally.

Students are encouraged to wear a Gold Out Shirt to the pep rally and football game. We will also take a school photo after the pep rally with students who are wearing Gold Out Shirt. Forms are available in the office to purchase the 2017 Gold Out Shirts. The shirts are $10.

If you have any questions, please contact counselor Keely Reisner at 512.430.6200.

Have a great week!

Greetings from Rockdale Intermediate School. We had a great week last week and our staff and students are off to a great start. Our students have settled in to the new year and have adjusted to the new routines and procedures very well. Please check student folders, conduct cards and reading logs regularly as they will give you an insight into how your student is doing. If you would like to know more, please contact your child's teacher by email or phone to set up a time to visit.

We are excited to kick off a new year of EAFK and can't wait to have our student orientation on September 13, 2017 at 1:30. EAFK, or EarlyAct First Knights Program, is a character education program supported by Rockdale Rotary. Please join us on our playground to enjoy this motivational kickoff for our new year. Feel free to bring a lawn chair to ensure you are comfortable during the presentation.

I hope you enjoyed the holiday and we look forward to seeing you all soon.

Greetings from Rockdale Intermediate School. We are off to a great start! We welcomed 331 students on the first day and have since grown to 335. We extend a special welcome to our new students and their families and look forward to working with them.

Our teachers spent many hours preparing for the school year and were excited to greet their students on the first day. The custodial and maintenance staff did a phenomenal job of getting our building and grounds ready for students. We are all very proud of Rockdale Intermediate School and it shows!

We are also very proud of our students. If you have not already heard, Rockdale Intermediate School will once again met standard. Our students could not have accomplished this without the help and support from their parents, teachers, and community. Working together we can achieve great things. Congratulations RIS on a job well done!

If you need to pick your child up early for any reason, you must do so before 3:00 pm.  Students are in transit from their classroom to their dismissal location and cannot be reached after 3:00 pm. If you need to change the way your child gets home, please let the office know before 2:30 pm.

Have a great week!

RIS Newsletter - July 2017

Welcome Rockdale Intermediate School Families!

We are very excited to begin our 2017-2018 together! We have been cleaning, learning, and preparing for a fabulous year. Please note our first day of school and Meet the Teacher Night schedules:

  • Meet the Teacher Night  will be held on Wednesday, August 16th from 5:00-6:00 pm. We will begin with a brief introduction in the cafeteria before visiting classrooms. This is a time for meeting your child's teacher and dropping of their school supplies. If you need to discuss your child personally with the teacher, please request a parent conference. Due to privacy reasons, this is not the best time to discuss individual student needs. We hope that you will come learn about our
school, your child’s classroom, and ways you can support your
    child!
  • First Day of School is Tuesday, August 22nd. Students will be allowed in the building beginning at 7:20 am. and may either enjoy breakfast or wait in the gym. Parents may escort students to the cafeteria or the gym but will not be able to escort students to class. Please plan to join us for Meet the Teacher Night to meet your child's teacher and get a feel for their classroom.
DRESSCODE: I would also like to share the RIS Dresscode for 2017-2018 as a reminder as you begin school shopping and preparation for the new year.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES: Students should bring their school supplies to Meet the Teacher Night. This will allow them to have them unpacked and ready to go on the first day of school. Click here to view the RIS School Supply List.

I hope you are able to enjoy the rest of your summer and I look forward to seeing you all next month!
