RIS Newsletter - October 30, 2017

Greetings from Rockdale Intermediate School!
We had a fabulous day on Friday. Thank you for supporting our Vocabulary Parade and Halloween parties. Our students had creative costumes and were excited to share their vocabulary words. I was very proud of them. Afterwards, they enjoyed food, fun and friendship during their classroom parties. All of this is not possible without of the support of our families. Thank you! Since we celebrated on Friday we will not celebrate on Tuesday. Please do not allow students to wear costumes to school.

We will not run an after school / iTigers bus Tuesday due to Halloween and iTigers will be finished at 4:30pm on Tuesday so that families can spend the evening together. Students who usually have UIL practice on Tuesday will need to check with their coach to see if they will have practice.

Christmas Roundup food collections will begin November 1st. Classes will compete to see which class can collect the most items for families in need. RIS will collect the following:

  • Jello
  • Macaroni and Cheese
  • Cocoa Mix
  • Canned Chicken
Each item collected will be worth 1 point. The class in each grade level with the most points by December 7th will receive a party and movie. Families in need of support this Christmas can signup for Christmas Roundup by completing an application and returning it to RIS by December 8th. Please contact Keely Reisner, RIS counselor, for more information at 512.430.6200 or at kreisner@rockdaleisd.net.
We are also looking forward to honoring our Veterans and the annual RISD Veteran's Day Program. The program will be on  Thursday, November 9th at 1:15pm in the high school gym. RIS students will leave campus at 12:45 to attend the ceremony. If you need to pick your student up for an appointment, please do so before 12:45 as they will not be released from the high school. We should return to campus by 3:00 pm. Our students do a great job each year displaying their patriotism. We invite you to attend and enjoy the program and look forward to seeing you there.
Have a great week!
Kathy Pelzel, Principal
